Nick Dorland, MHC

Adolescent Therapist
Brief info

Nick is a Mental Health Counselor who graduated from St. John Fisher University in July of 2024. He has experience working with adolescents and adults and believes everyone can benefit from therapy. His approach is person centered with a strong influence utilizing Internal Family Systems as well as Narrative therapy. He believes that this approach allows him to be trauma informed, sensitive to clients’ history, and looks intentionally at what internal parts and stories have been influential in a client’s life. He sees therapy as a journey, a collaborative process, and one that must take into consideration the whole person utilizing their strengths to become the best healed self they can be. Prior to becoming a Counselor, Nick received his Master of Divinity in 2014 and worked for 8 years as an ordained clergy within Reformed and Presbyterian Churches where he most enjoyed working one on one with people in care and counsel and leading groups. Nick enjoys bike riding, reading, technology, music, nature, and spending time with his family.
