Insurance Coordinator
Job Description:
The Insurance Coordinator at Gavia LifeCare Center is responsible for managing and coordinating insurance policies for clients. This management position is also responsible for communicating with clients about their insurance policies and advising them on policy changes, renewals, and payments. This role assists in improving the billing process with providing management and training to the administrative team along with assisting with improvement of policies and procedures.
At Gavia Lifecare Center, we are an OMH licensed outpatient mental healthcare center on the forefront of implementing integrated mental healthcare services independent of a large medical facility. Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Verifying insurance for Telehealth and in-person appointments.
- Assisting in managing the billing process, including insurance claims, client invoices, and processing payments.
- Assisting in helping to provide and or create billing/process training.
- Stay up to date on changes in coding guidelines, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Stay up to date on verifying out of network clients
- Contacting clients to verify if they would still like to be seen out of network, they will have to pay before they are seen, and we can provide a superbill
- Clients need to sign a document stating that they have agreed
- Offering clients discounted services if clinically appropriate and ensuring all consent forms are signed and filled out appropriately.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility, including obtaining pre-authorizations when necessary.
- Oversee all copay and deductibles.
- Ensure compliance with coding and billing regulations, including but not limited to Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance guidelines.
- Conduct regular audits of coding and billing practices to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Other responsibilities as assigned
Physical demands: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Required education and experience:
- 2-3 year(s) experience working as a Biller in a clinical mental health setting or other equivalent experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
Preferred education and experience:• Certification in medical billing/coding
- Experience with mental health billing and coding
- Associates degree or higher
